Birthday Party!

Elsa, you were so happy to have a party for your second birthday. It was today, a Sunday afternoon. You really wanted Nanny, Graw-ma Bocky. Achel, Pop pop, and Zeke to be there. You kept asking about them. Sheila and Kayla, the Pedrazes, and Chris and Hilary were there too. We had a cake with a monkey on it, sorbet, lots of yummy food, and plenty of sunshine. All day you said, "Pa-dee!" And were so thrilled and thankful. It was so wonderful.

Here are a few photos from the party.

The first is of some of the decorations and the second is a photo your brother took of you blowing out candles. Your face is behind his finger!

Commutation

Elsa has so many additions to her vocabulary that I don't know where to start.

She knows all words in my everyday kid vocabulary and has total comprehension of words Daniel says, even in his little kid accent.

She says t sound for cah sound- like ok is otay and haircut is hair tut.

She likes saying longer words like office and diaper. They seem to be two arm ds longer when she says than when I say.

She calls her brother baby, Banny, Beeny, Benji, and Daby. She still calls her older brother Dow-well.

First Hair Cut

Elsa does like to brush her hair, use "cream" (hair conditioner) and hairspray, and the idea of hairbows/ponytails.

I mentioned my hair cut appointment for weekend and asked to have her come, too. Elsa acted a little excited and totally ready for the haircut.

Her hair was not long... It's far from her eyes, but it has some straggly ends and was pretty difficult to manage in the back. I hoped a haircut would help the overall appearance of her hair and minimize any mullet. I also hoped she would not have salon or clipper anxiety like her brother does.

She was impressed by the mirror, bc to cape, and water mist bottle. Miss Kara treated her like a princess. She said, "Elsie hair-tut!" And agreed with us when we said she looked pretty.

It was a very smooth and painless process! Her hair has really only started I grow more quickly in last three months, but I think age 2 will see more than the a we've of 0.5 haircuts per year she has going on now.

Elsa-Salsa

We might call her Salsie instead of Elsie. For third day this week, Elsa ate a fair size amount of salsa with her meal. She nearly licks the bowl clean! She did understand the nickname joke and laughed and said Salsa El-sha!

Salt Dough Ornaments

We needed some crosses for our Easter tree so we made some from salt dough (water, flour, salt). The kids loved mixing if, forming them with cookie cutters, and decorating them with glitter paints.

Tractor Rides

It took a longer time for EK to warm to tractor rides than did her brother. She practiced by sitting on one that was running. By end of her three day stay with Douglas grandparents she could say the word tractor and ask to sit on top of it with grandpa.
