Still a Crib Sleeper

And she seems okay with it.
And she can nimbly climb in and out.

Always sleeps with Wankie/Lankie blanket and takes it everywhere.

Wants her doll with hair to be in her bed.
Reads books in bed.
Sleeps with two colored wall lights on that she calls pink flower and yow flower.
Has Norah Jones playing on a loops all day long. Calls her Jones, mommy Jones, and Ms Noah Jones.

Late Night!

Little Lovie, we put you down for bed three times tonight.  And you convinced us to let you up twice.  You were giggling, howling with laughter, singing, and being really disruptive to your brother.  I don't know what tickled your fancy so much, but whatever it was meant that you went to bed after 9:30 PM, which is far too late for such a little lady!

It was fun to watch you play and sing while I folded laundry and watched Desperate Housewives on TV.

Milestone: Sleeping Through Night In Nursery!

Dear Elsa,

I am so proud of you! You slept all night, from 9 PM until 5:45 AM in your own bed in the nursery.  You slept in the room without your brother, who will share the room with you when he returns from his visit to my parents.  You slept with some soft white noise in the background, swaddled, and with a nightlight on.

I slept like a baby, too.  I felt like doing cartwheels for you because this is a big deal not having a night nursing time, but maybe I am over-excited and just had extra energy from all those hours of consecutive sleep.

I would love you just as much if you were a light sleeper who cried all night, but I am happy that you are the way you are.

Love, Mama

Late Night

Elsa was up much later than normal for her tonight, past 10 PM.  She has done this three or four times in her life.  She grumbles at being in her crib, rests in it for awhile, then screams with such intensity that we check her out.  Then she starts to play with us.  She laughs and coos and is perfectly adorable.  We try to feed her, but she wants none of that.  We don't have the energy to play, so we put her in her swing.  She laughs for ten minutes (at the fan? at us on the couch? at the weather guy on tv?) and then conks out. She sleeps so peacefully, as if she has slept for hours.

How strange!

How You Nap

Elsa, this is how you nap in your second month.
In your small crib in our room.

In your swaddle blanket.

Looking at our ceiling fan.

Peaceful.

Sweet.

Tired eyes.

You don't need more beauty sleep! But restful sleep is just fine.

You nap at least three times per day, sometimes as much as FIVE TIMES if you get up early.

New Crib!

Here is Elsa's new crib.  Its the first day we had it up.  She's about seven weeks old here.

Its a mini crib - which means it will convert to a twin sized bed rather than a full sized bed.
Its not too much longer than her Moses Basket, but it is wider.

She will probably stay in here until Daniel goes into the twin bed, then she will go into his crib at about a year old.

Sweet dreams, baby!

Last Few Naps in Moses Basket

At five weeks old, you are quickly outgrowing the Moses Basket.  I have had to add a bit more cushion for you to be comfortable in there, and you seem to notice how confined you are.  You are taking much better naps on the wide expanse of Mommy and Daddy's bed instead of your small bed, so now it is time to order you your own crib.

We sure like our baby in the basket!

Napping in the Sun, 4 Weeks

Here you are, one month old and napping in your moses basket bed.  The sun was not shining on you when I put you down for the nap, but was when I came in later.  You looked radiant in the sun!  You are wearing a beautiful terry cloth sleeper from your Nana.  She bought it for you when you were 2 weeks old because you were too small for all the sleepers we had.  Then at 3 weeks when we visited her and you wore this, you had a growth spurt and suddenly out grew the sleeper!  This was the last time you wore it, after only three or four times.
You make many faces when you sleep.  Its super cute.

Sometimes you frown in your sleep and look worried.

Other times you are so peaceful looking, like Sleeping Beauty.
