Happy Bath-y

Elsa wants a bath (Baff) everynight. Daniel does not.
Elsa also prefers her baths to be without brother and she screams to get out when he gets in.  There isn't a lot of overlap.  On this rare occasion they shared their space and the toys and laughed together.

Craft Project, Day One

Elsa loves to paint.
She loves to dip paint brushes in the paint and usually paints the paint container and the art tray, too.
She also loves this Thomas art smock/old shirt.

For this project, she paid very close attention to how Daniel did the work, but she chose to use yellow for her bird house until she dipped into the wrong color, and then smeared green everywhere for a good time.

Sister in a Box

And it was her idea, her thrill.
He thought she had a funny idea and liked helping her plan.
Elsa was happy to be inside and get pushed around for half an hour on a Saturday morning.
She liked the flashlight, a juice, and some toys inside, and she did NOT want to share with her brother, who also wanted "box time".

New Boots, New Show, New Seat

We found DHH's old "frog doots" while organizing baby clothes and Elsa was thrilled. She called them BOOPS. They are cracked and totally worn out, but they are her size and remind me of Daniel being her exact age and size.

(I just bought her a pair of unworn lady big boots to replace this sad pair and both kids are so excited for Elsa to have her own boots.)

We put on Netflix to distract Elsa for when her brother and dad were busy in attic and she couldn't go up too. It was a Tinker Bell movie. She was interested for 20 min and thought the fairies were babies.

She pulled her new, just delivered Ararat up to get cozy.
It's similar to Daniel's and will likely be her seat til age 5 or 7. She will still sit rear facing.

Also, I wanted to mention how cute Elsa is these days. Like a stuffed animal cute. She grins and uses cheerful little sounds. She always looks cozy and happy to see me.

Snow Play

You really enjoyed the Late February snows this year. You were 22 months old and it's basically the only deep snows you have experiences. We got 10 inches with drifts around 14 inches.

When Daniel was 18 months old it was February and we had two major snow falls a few months before you were born. He kind of liked the snow, but never played in it. He just shoveled and followed Daddy around. So we didn't expect you to want to play in the snow as much as you did.

You enjoyed sitting, walking, scooping, and sledding in the snow. You had a high tolerance for the cold and didn't mind having wet mittens. You stayed out for 45 minutes each time. You REALLY liked sledding and said WhEE and please??? Anytime we asked you about sledding. Because you are so light, you really could go far and fast!

Your Handsome Father

These are two close up views of your dad. He is 30 years old here and it's a typical hair style/clothes he wears.

I was thinking how maybe you see him differently because he is five feet taller than you are.

And then I realized that likely you see these same views because you are in his lap or being carried by him most of the time you two are together.

Playing Cats

We were looking at a house with three cats and one room had a pet carrier/cage.

Both kids were very quiet.

We went to another room and over heard Daniel say, "That's a good idea, Elsie."

Then I came in.
She was in the back of the cage and he had climbed in second and was busy with he latch.

Try really thought they were funny!
Both made car noises and waited until our Relator had seen them, too. What hams!

A Tiny Pony

She asked me to fix her hair like mine. It only lasted a few minutes before falling out before church.

A Little Sneaky Snack and Seat

Elsa helped herself to some mini marshmallows. She poured them in a bowl for herself. She got cozy in the infant car seat. When I passed by she said, "oh dear!"

Rough Night Sleeping

We stayed a night at my parents' and Elsa was fussy at 9pm. I let her stay in bed with me. It was unpleasant for me EXCEPT for the first fifteen minutes when I watched her sleep peacefully.

The rest of the night she whined, wiggled, kicked, cried, and then fell off the bed.

But the first few moments of watching her sleep was so precious.

New car for Elsa

My aunt Ruth, Elsa's BopPop Douglas's older sister, brought lots of goodies from her granddaughter to share with Elsa. Clothes, toys, a potty seat... And this new car. She and Daniel have been fighting over it and enjoying it so much in our living room.

She calls it a vroom vroom.

My Valentine

Elsa was especially sweet Valentine week.

Block Love (and Hugs)

I never would have guessed a child would hug the block tower she just made. I like how thrilled and enthusiastic her play/work is these days. She is so proud of herself!

Truck play

I think Elsa would gravitate toward cars and trucks even if she didn't have a brother to emulate. She really enjoys this front loader and spent time moving Lincoln logs around her brother!a building site.

Valentine Lovie

Elsa was really sweet today and so excited to wear tights/ leggings since I was also wearing them (not hot pink though!).

We had a little valentine play date at our house and she loved the decorations, commotion, and company.
